A REAL ID is a federally compliant driver’s license or identification card that meets minimum security standards set by the 2005 REAL ID Act. Starting May 7, 2025, these, or another acceptable form of ID like a passport, are required to board domestic flights, enter secure federal facilities, or visit military bases. They are generally marked with a star in the top right corner.
