Namaste (pronounced nah-mah-stay) is a respectful greeting and farewell from Sanskrit, literally meaning “I bow to you,” recognizing the divine spark within each person; it combines “namaḥ” (bow, adoration) and “te” (to you) and is often accompanied by pressing palms together in front of the chest (Anjali Mudra).
