American football is a team sport played on a rectangular field with goalposts at each end. Two teams of eleven players compete to score points by advancing the oval-shaped ball down the field, either by running with it, passing it, or kicking it through the opponent’s goalposts. The offensive team tries to advance the ball at least ten yards in four downs to maintain possession, while the defensive team tries to stop them.
