Nonprofit Group Ranks Lawmakers on Critical Issues Ahead of 2022 Midterms

The Moms for America Action group has released its first-ever Congressional Ratings “Report Card” that grades all 535 Members of Congress on critical issues facing mothers in America.

The Moms for America Action Report Card examined 20 votes taken by the 116th Congress and ranked U.S. Senators based on 10 key votes on various matters including mask mandates, critical race theory, the Second Amendment, and more, according to its Sept. 9 press release.

“Our Report Card pulled no punches … Our 2022 Report Card finds both political parties lacking the will to take necessary steps to protect the interests of America’s moms. We commend the members of congress who received an A on our Moms for America report card. They are putting moms and their families first as they vote to preserve our liberties,” the group stated.

Matters of Concern

At the heart of the concerns for American mothers is the economy, according to Kimberly Fletcher, founder and president of an organization connecting a network of over 500,000 moms across America.

“It started out with the baby formula when moms couldn’t get baby formula,” Fletcher told the “Capitol Report” program on NTD News, the sister media of The Epoch Times, at a press conference announcing the report in Washington, D.C., on Sept. 14.

She called it a big issue as “right now they [moms] are having to decide between a gallon of gas and a gallon of milk.”

“So that is very close to them, very personal,” she added.

Key issues also include comprehensive sex education, critical race theory, transgender ideologies, gender confusion, according to Fletcher.

“Border security was actually an issue with several moms and the right to protect ourselves, especially when they’re defunding the police,” she added.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) who received an A score—the best grade on the group card—shared Fletcher’s view.

“Crime is out of control, the border is wide open, and families are under attack,” Greene told NTD.

“Any policy that is hurting children is just bad for the future of our country. This is why it’s so important to moms,” she added, pointing to her concerns about education.

“We care about our children’s education. We want to keep the woke teachers unions out, we don’t want them in charge of curriculum, we want parents in charge of it,” she said.

“We don’t want parents kicked out of school board meetings. We want parents running school board meetings. We don’t want children targeted with sexualization and transgender ideology. They need to leave kids alone,” Greene added.

In relation to the transgender issue, Fletcher said that moms need to prepare their children for radical agendas.

“It’s everywhere. You can’t opt out anymore … So we have to prepare them for when they’re facing it,” she said.

No Partisan Issue

In Fletcher’s opinion, these issues are not partisan ones.

“So across the board, if you’re a mom who’s struggling to put food on the table or gas in the car, then that affects you. It doesn’t matter what political persuasion you are, this is crossing all barriers, because that’s what motherhood does,” she opined.

“They’re gonna stand up and they’re gonna fight for those parental rights,” she said.

“When it comes to the economy, they’re starting to stand up and speak out and say, ‘is not okay what’s happening to gas prices,’” she added.

Greene chimed in, saying that Democrat constituents who are businessmen in her district are upset about these issues as well.

“The supply chain problems have hurt their businesses the same as they have hurt Republican business owners. They also don’t like inflation that’s out of control. Everyone’s paying the same prices at the grocery store. You don’t get to show a certain voting card and get a discount,” she opined.

Voting

In the lawmaker’s opinion, the current situation might swing the voting of those affected Democrats.

“I think there should be a change coming up in this next election because no one is safe from these radical policies that are really America-last and destroying our country,” Greene said.

Meanwhile, Fletcher called for voters to check the rating report cards to make decisions in the leadup to the midterm elections.

“You can go to our mom vote platform and find out who these candidates are, how they vote, where they stand on the issues that matter to you,” Fletcher said.

“Your vote is your voice for your values. And if you’re not voting, your voice isn’t heard, your values aren’t represented and we’re going to keep getting more of the same problems.”
