NBA Media Day 2025: Best Quotes from LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Nikola Jokic and Others

We’re just three weeks away from the 2025-26 NBA season tipping off on Oct. 21, meaning training camp and then preseason are just days away. But before that, the NBA holds its annual media day, where all players report to their team headquarters and meet with the media.

There are always a handful of quotes which raise eyebrows—or raise expectations—and this year is no different.

The 2025 NBA Media Day took place on Monday, and here are the biggest takeaways and quotes from the sessions.

LeBron James

“I’m not waiting on Bryce,” LeBron James said about his son, with a smile. “I don’t know what his timeline is. He’s his own young man now. He’s down in Tucson. We’ll see what happens this year, next year. He has his own timeline, I’ve got my timeline, and I don’t know if they quite match up. We’ll see.”

Already having made history in becoming the first father-son duo to play in the NBA, alongside his elder son, Bronny James, LeBron James was asked about potentially playing with his younger son, Bryce James. Bryce is entering his freshman season at the University of Arizona, meaning he could join the NBA as early as the 2026-27 NBA season. That would be LeBron’s 24^th year in the NBA, with the upcoming 23^rd season breaking a tie he held with Vince Carter for the most seasons played in NBA history.

Draymond Green

“That’s my motivation, to go and try to make another all-defensive team and join that list,” said Draymond Green. “It’s an amazing list. All first-ballot Hall of Famers. That would be a dream come true.”

That list Green is referring to is the group of players who’ve made at least 10 All-Defensive teams. Currently, it’s an exclusive club of just five: Tim Duncan (15 selections), Kevin Garnett (12), Kobe Bryant (12), Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (11), and Scottie Pippen (10). Green has nine selections to his name—including last season—and it appears this is the final individual goal for the soon-to-be 36-year-old.

Anthony Edwards

“I think the best tip that he’s gave me is most people lean on people in the post with they ass, and he do it with the top part of his back. I think I learned that from him,” Anthony Edwards on what he learned from Michael Jordan.

Young players often seek out advice from all-time greats when they want to reach that level, and that’s what Edwards did with Jordan this summer. Jordan perfected the fadeaway in the latter part of his career, and it seems like Edwards has discovered what’s so essential with this back-to-the-basket play. Edwards led the NBA in both 3-pointers made and attempted last season, but we may see more of his post-up game this year as he looks to get the Wolves one step further than the back-to-back West Finals they’ve appeared in.

Kevin Durant

“I do see myself signing a contract extension,” Kevin Durant said. “I can’t tell you exactly when that will happen, but I do see it happening.”

Durant is entering his first year with the Houston Rockets, but is in the last year of his current contract. Durant highlighted the progressive rebuild of the Rockets following the James Harden era as one of his reasons for wanting to re-up with Houston. That’s in addition to people within the organization he previously worked with, as well as the state of Texas, as he played college ball in Austin. Monday also happened to be Durant’s 37^th birthday, but it’s clear he wants to play a few more years.

Nikola Jokic

“My plan is to be a Nugget forever,” Nikola Jokic said.

Three-time MVP Nikola Jokic has been eligible to sign an extension with Denver for the last two months but has declined to do so. That’s not because he wants to leave the only franchise he’s ever known, but it’s because it’s a smarter financial move to wait until next offseason to sign an extension.

Jokic could make an additional $77 million by re-signing in the summer of 2026 as he’d be able to add an extra year to his extension, per the CBA. So, hearing him confirm that he wants to be a Nugget forever has to be reassuring for the entire state of Colorado.

Jarret Allen

“I went to Africa and we did a safari on the honeymoon,” Cavs center Jarrett Allen stated. “And the best part was that we got to see a lion chase down a buffalo—it was her mom and her baby. The lion just came out of nowhere and chased them down. [We] stopped and watched them eat it.”

This was Allen’s response to being asked what his favorite part of his summer honeymoon was. One can only wonder what his wife’s reaction is to his answer, but we can conclude that we know who Allen will be picking if the Detroit Lions face the Buffalo Bills in the Super Bowl.

Other Takeaways: Wemby Still Growing

In just two years, Victor Wembanyama has grown into one of the NBA’s best players, but apparently, his growth is both figurative and literal. The Frenchman was listed at 7-foot-3 over his first two seasons with the San Antonio Spurs, but the team now lists him at 7-foot-4 for this season. He’s still only 21 years old, so his still growing is certainly a possibility. The favorite to win Defensive Player of the Year, who led the league in blocks each of the last two years, getting even taller is a scary thought for opponents.
