Musk Launches PAC to Back Candidates Focused on Secure Borders, Free Speech, Sensible Spending

Business mogul Elon Musk has launched a new political action committee (PAC), called America PAC, to endorse candidates aligned with a set of values, including secure borders, sensible government spending, and free speech.

“This is the PAC that I created to support candidates who believe in the core values of America,” Musk wrote in a post on X on Oct. 5.

America PAC’s mission statement, posted on social media, outlines its focus areas: secure borders, safe cities, a fair justice system, self-protection, and free speech. The group highlighted its agenda by emphasizing that the issues it advocates for are those that impact Americans’ daily lives and that voters care about them deeply.

“America PAC was created to support these key values & leaders who fight for them,” the group wrote.

The PAC has also been vocal about illegal immigration, pointing to data on the rise of illegal border crossings in recent years.

“The illegal immigrant population in Pennsylvania has increased 241 [percent] and cost taxpayers over $1.64 billion under the Biden/Harris Administration,” the PAC wrote in a post on X. “This is not putting America First.”

The group endorsed former President Donald Trump as the only presidential candidate capable of addressing the PAC’s priorities.

“There is only one candidate in this race who is on the right side of these issues: Donald J. Trump,” America PAC wrote in a post.

Trump has long made curbing illegal immigration a central theme of his political platform. During his presidency, he pushed to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, enforce stricter immigration laws, and reduce the number of unlawful border crossings. In his 2024 campaign, he has renewed these promises, vowing to complete the border wall, reintroduce the “Remain in Mexico” policy for asylum seekers, implement harsher penalties for illegal entry, and deport individuals who are in the United States unlawfully.

Beyond immigration, Trump has also promised to address other key concerns articulated by America PAC, including getting tough on crime, cutting federal waste, streamlining government programs, and ensuring that taxpayer dollars are spent more efficiently.

Citing a focus on voter registration and turnout, America PAC said in a statement on its website that it is actively recruiting staff, with pay starting at $30 per hour plus performance-based bonuses.

Recent polling indicates that Trump and his rival, Democratic nominee Vice President Kamala Harris, are separated in the presidential race by a razor-thin margin. Harris leads by 2.5 percentage points, according to FiveThirtyEight’s polling average, although surveys in the seven key battleground states suggest that a narrower margin separates the two candidates.

A key unknown in the November election that will affect the results is voter turnout, with both candidates’ parties seeking to mobilize supportive voters and appeal to those who remain undecided.
