Coldplay’s frontman, Chris Martin, encouraged fans to extend compassion to Charlie Kirk’s family in the wake of the conservative commentator’s assassination during a recent concert in London.

The singer delivered the message of unity on Sept. 12 during the final show of the rock band’s 10-night residency at Wembley Stadium, which concluded the current leg of the group’s “Music of the Spheres World Tour.”

“For the final time for a few years in London, let’s raise our hands like this and send love anywhere you wanna send it in the world—and there are so many places that might need it today,” Martin said in a video recording shared online.

“You can send this to your brother or sister; you can send it to the families of people who have been going through terrible stuff. You can send it to Charlie Kirk’s family—you can send it to anybody’s family. You can send it to people you disagree with, but you send them love anyway,” he continued.

“You can send it to peaceful people in the Middle East and Ukraine and Russia and Azerbaijan and Sudan and Somalia, anywhere you think might need love from London.”

After the show, some of Coldplay’s fans took to Instagram to praise Martin for his comment, with one expressing gratitude to the lead singer “for demonstrating humanity.”

“Chris- thank you for showing respect to Charlie Kirk and all the people that love him. God Bless You,” another user commented.

“Thank you for showing compassion to Charlie’s family,” a third fan wrote. “That’s not political that is human.”

Kirk, who founded the nonprofit organization Turning Point USA in 2012, was fatally shot in the neck on Sept. 10 while speaking at an event at Utah Valley University. He was 31 and left behind a wife of four years, Erika, and two young children.

Other musicians have spoken out online following the conservative influencer’s assassination, among them country singer Kane Brown, who shared a similar message of unity in an Instagram video.

“At the end of the day, all I want is everybody to love each other. That’s really all I want,” Brown said in part. “I don’t do politics. That’s not for me. I just want y’all to love each other. It’s really not that hard.”

“Charlie was one of the greatest young patriots this country has ever seen,” fellow country star Parker McCollum penned. “Thank you for standing up for what so many of us believe so strongly. May God have mercy on your soul and watch over your precious family.”

“Pretty Little Poison” singer Warren Zeiders called Kirk “a man of faith,” sharing his condolences to the media personality’s wife and children.

“He was a follower of Christ, and a Godly man. He was a voice for my generation,” Zeiders added.

“No matter your beliefs or what side you sit on, this is a sad day.”
