Border Patrol’s West Texas Region Twitter Account Deactivated Over ‘Inappropriate’ Posts Criticizing Biden’s Border Policies

The official Twitter account for U.S. Customs and Border Protection operations in the West Texas region is set to be deactivated after it retweeted posts by a former Trump administration policy adviser criticizing President Joe Biden’s border policies.

In a statement on the social networking site on Sept. 10, CBP commissioner Chris Magnus said the agency “has become aware of unauthorized and inappropriate content” posted to the account, and that CBP will “take action to deactivate the account and has referred the matter to Office of Professional Responsibility to investigate.”

“The tweets do not reflect the values of this administration and our work to rebuild a humane, orderly, and secure immigration system,” Magnus added.

Magnus also noted that it was “totally unacceptable and disappointing that any CBP Twitter account was used” to retweet “offensive, unauthorized content.”

The account in question, West Texas CBP, is currently still active as of Sept. 12, although the latest tweet posted on the account dates back to July 6 and the recent retweets appear to have been removed.

The posts that were shared by the account included retweets of posts by Stephen Miller, former senior adviser for Donald Trump, in which he criticized Biden’s immigration policies and accused the media of remaining silent on Biden’s “eradication of our border.”

‘We Are No Longer a Republic’

“Violent criminals lay waste to our communities undisturbed while the immense power of the state is arrayed against those whose only crime is dissent,” Miller wrote in one of the tweets. “The law has been turned from a shield to protect the innocent into a sword to conquer them.”

“The media’s greatest power is its ability to frame what is a dire national crisis (eg ‘cops are racist’ summer ‘20) and what is not. Biden’s eradication of our border means we are no longer a Republic—he’s ended nearly 250 years of constitutional government. The media is silent,” another tweet by Milner that was shared by the West Texas CBP account said.

Republican lawmakers have often taken aim at Biden’s failed border policies for contributing to the current immigration crisis.

report by the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) published last month found that nearly 5 million illegal immigrants have crossed U.S. borders in the 18 months since Biden took office, including some 900,000 “gotaways” who managed to evade border patrol agents.

Miller responded late on Sunday to condemn the investigation into the incident regarding the Twitter account.

“Joe Biden’s soulless open border crusade is killing thousands of innocents. Death and destruction everywhere. But instead of going after the murderous cartels, they are going after agents for RTs of pro-border messages. The Biden Administration hates the law and law enforcement,” Miller wrote.
